JD Journal, an online publication of Career Mission, picked up last month's Miami Herald's story which quoted George Harper on the increasing competitiveness of Miami firms. The JD Journal is dedicated to in-depth analysis of current trends in the legal community and noted that one of those trends is that law firms based out of Miami are working to build up their international client base. George Harper sums it up with this statement: "Miami is viewed as a lower-priced alternative to New York with equally as sophisticated lawyers." Firms had to get creative due to the fluctuating economy, and Miami is the perfect place from which to launch an international law firm due to its large multicultural population with ties all over the world. Global firms based out of Miami serve international countries including Canada, Asia, Europe, and especially South and Central America.
