Patrick J. O’Connor leads Harper Meyer's commercial litigation and intellectual property practices. Mr. O'Connor oversees the litigation of complex commercial matters in state and federal courts, both within the State of Florida and throughout the nation. He also pursues the arbitration of domestic and international disputes before the American Arbitration Association, the International Chamber of Commerce, and the World Bank, among many others. In leading Harper Meyer’s intellectual property practice, Mr. O'Connor represents domestic and international clients in trademark and copyright registration proceedings, intellectual property licensing negotiations, and the review and commercialization of intellectual property assets. Mr. O’Connor is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to joining Harper Meyer, he practiced for extended periods with Gray Cary in Washington, DC, and Squire Sanders & Dempsey in Miami. Mr. O’Connor is licensed to practice in Florida, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, and he is a member of the bar of numerous federal district and appeals courts, including the United States Supreme Court. In addition to the practice of law, Mr. O’Connor is a novelist. His book, The Last Will and Testament of Lemuel Higgins, was published by Blackbriar Press in 2011. Active in the community, Mr. O’Connor is counsel to the Board of Directors of the Greater Miami Service Corps. Mr. O’Connor is fluent in Spanish.
